Detektiv Murdoch na zakoupeném pozemku u řeky hodlá postavit rodinný dům. Jeho nadšení a plány ale naruší nepříjemné překvapení. Na pozemku je nalezena zakopaná kostra neznámé osoby. Bohužel ale není jediná. Murdoch s Julií místo stavby domu najednou řeší, komu patří nalezené pozůstatky, a také to, kdo mrtvé mohl právě v těchto místech pohřbít.
