Na moři − Druhá epizoda sleduje několik paralelních dějů, kde Nori ukrývá záhadného muže, který spadl z nebe a hledá určité hvězdy, zatímco na moři se Galadriel setkává s Halvrandem, mužem z Jižních zemí, který nerad mluví o své minulosti. Elrond jedná s trpaslíky o spojenectví, ale musí nejprve obnovit přátelství s princem Durinem, kterého zanedbal dvacet let, zatímco Arondir s Bronwyn objevují podzemní tunely a čelí prvnímu útoku skřetů v Tirahradu. Sledujeme formování nových vztahů a spojenectví mezi různými národy Středozemě. Postupně se odhaluje, že se probouzejí jak světlé, tak temné síly − cizinec ovládá světlušky a komunikuje s hvězdami, skřeti kopají tunely a útočí na vesnice. Bronwyn rozhodne, že vesničané musí uprchnout do elfské věže, a Nori pomůže Cizinci najít hvězdy, které hledá.

Stín minulosti − Úvodní epizoda představuje elfí velitelku Galadriel, která po staletích pátrání po zločinném Sauronovi najde důkazy jeho přítomnosti v opuštěné skřetí pevnosti, ale je nucena vrátit se domů. Mezitím se seznamujeme s Harfoty, zejména zvědavou Nori, a s elfem Arondirem, který hlídá Jižní země a chová romantické city k lidské léčitelce Bronwyn. Král Gil-galad vyhlašuje konec války a jako odměnu nabízí Galadriel a jejím vojákům cestu do Nesmrtelných zemí Valinoru. Galadriel nejprve odmítá, protože věří, že Sauron stále představuje hrozbu, ale nakonec souhlasí s odchodem. V závěru epizody však v posledním okamžiku skočí z lodi do moře, rozhodnutá pokračovat ve svém boji.
